People would rather lie than admit to being liars.
Have you ever told someone you’d respect him more if he confessed his dishonesty? I am sure no one ever complied. People are universally offended when they are accused of lying, even if they liked. Liars will lie. Chronic liars do not let their actions influence their identities. They don’t lie bc they are liars, they lie only bc they must. Had the circumstances been correct, they could have been honest. But the world does not allow them to be honest. And white fault is that? Someone else’s. It’s complicated. Easier to tell a lie that gives the correct impression rather than offer a misleading truth.
