I started using a year and a half after I graduated. At the time I did not know I had started a way of life. In retrospect I see I could have figured out where my life was heading if I had known to take an inventory of how I spent my time. Time is our greatest treasure. Without knowing it, we spend our time on what matters to us most. I read in a book that where the heart is, there our treasure lies. My heart was for the drug before I actively knew it with my mind.
Lesson: it is a good idea to keep track of how you doe d your time by literally writing down what you do, at the minimum, every hour.
You might find out that what you are doing is in line with where you want to go in life. Or not. You might be surprised to discover how different your stated goals are from the actions you are taking. Don’t be surprised if you can’t bring yourself to even do an inventory. That’s bc you already know the difficult truth. You just don’t want to deal with it. Denial is how most of us deal with the problem in our lives that causes us to contemplate the need for a time inventory.
