That expression can possibly be translated to mean: your pain will one day be a source of amusement to you. How could the speaker know this, unless my pain was already a source of amusement to the speaker whose wisdom revealed to him that my problem was no biggie. Yes, I overthink casually tossed off platitudes and I tend to err on the side of pessimism. I could be wrong when I think there’s thoughtlessness afoot. I want to make the point, mostly to myself, that the Bible is right–we will be called to account for every idle word we utter. Accountability might come sooner than we think in the form of hurt feelings. I will keep my words in mind bc that’s good advice, for me!
